Clarkson University is a private university located in Postdam, which is a village in the Town of Potsdam, in St. Lawrence County, in the US state of New York, with a population of more than 9000 inhabitants, as estimated during the 2000 census.
The university was established in 1896 and adopted its current name in February, 1984, after, in 1913, became known as Thomas S. Clarkson Memorial College of Technology.
